...it was a
great day.
|
| For me it started off with some dunkin donuts, the chocolate frosted
ones and a big cup of coffee. Aaron was ontime and Adam had brought the
ramps so we started settin’ up everything. I’m sure i’m not the only one
saying this, this is that ’I met some great people today.’ First one was
Scott, Scott was selling t-shirts during the day, but before that he just
showed up, produced a broom and was chimchiminy-chimchimcharooin’ up the
elephant poo that the circus had left. Those silly elephants, by the time
he was finishing up some skateboarders rolled up and started skating.
|

| 'I thought they needed helmets. Nope, only during s.k.a.t.e. Well thats cool, but silly.' |

| Kids didn’t stop skating. They were still skating by the time the show was over and we were all cleaned up. Just ollieing over that small gap near the end of the parking lot, it was 10 on a school night, but they were floatin’ those ollies not wanting the day to end. Kids love to skate around here and the 30th showed how bad these kids like skating. |

| I only skated for about 20 minutes, but I was having a great time just weaving in and out of people and ollieing over stuff. The best trick contests were intense and real fun to watch and I wish I had the names of the people that won these but I don’t. Look, some of these kids ripped. Imagine if they had a proper skatespot without worrying about being kicked out. You can travel the world skateboarding and them world travels can begin right here in Salisbury. |

| Five o’clock rolled around and our own circus packed up and went inside. That gym is a cool old gym and was a cool setting for the show. Real dark and stuff. And warm. Death by Sunday kicked things off and thrashed for a good 25 minutes, then the Hoochie Coochie Man sang some love songs to get the ladies comfortable. I think it worked because some of the younger ladies in the crowd were producing thunder kicks that would have made a kangaroo proud. |

| Face the Sunshine busted shit up and got some kid sent to the hospital. We had to set up a barrier real quick for the sound guy because of the moshpit they stirred up. Good, good energy. |

| The side show bobs played again and really hit they’re stride with a remake of No Woman No Cry, subsituting the Woman part with Skatepark. Which makes no sense if you think about it, but we didn’t think about it and it worked pretty good. |

| Same goes with the art show that was going on. It was a wierd place to have a art show but I think Art and Skating go hand in hand so why not? There was some great topnotch stuff in there and set up a good backdrop to the music. My personal favorite was a painting of a green baby with real big eyes painted by Jen Stillwell, yeah even after all these years. There was some photography in there by Nicole Wade and Ashley Lekites, I liked the M&M picture obviosley and at the end of the night I horded all of Nicole’s pictures like a effen squirrel, we just traded each other art, straight up barter system. Thats how we were able to put the whole event on. |

| Our group had no money, but were able to make some money for the park and have a good time because of this type of mentallity. It ain’t ALL about the money. Thanks Nicole. Cole Gibson has a sick mind, and it showed. Bruce Zocholl hooked it up with some cool pictures of cows and hamburgers. Get it? I ended up missing Buried in Vegas ’cuz my son had to go number 2 for about a half an hour. He’s like ’Dad, get outta here but make sure I can still see your feet.’ Heard they rocked and then ... |

| Amen the Animal definitley did. Much respect. They’re a great band and
they too could travel far places with they’re music. So then we cleaned up. We raised $5,000The whole day was a blast. Big up to everyone there.
